Element # 2: Mind

(2 minute Read)

There is one subtle faculty in human beings which is referred to by 2 names indicating the different functions. It is known as mind when it feels the emotions. When it thinks for decision making, it is referred to as intellect. In common parlance, the mind and intellect are known as the heart and the head respectively.

Mind is a subtler instrument, when compared to element # 1, which was discussed in my previous blog. It deals with the various emotions like love, compassion, kindness, anger, jealousy, hatred, greed, empathy and so on. Emotion is a form of energy and is neutral. It can be constructive or destructive depending on the way we harness them.

Mind can be constructive when:

1. we express an emotion like gratitude for building external relationships

2. we suppress an emotion like anger to gain internal maturity

Mind can be destructive when:

  1. we suppress an emotion like gratitude to weaken external relationships

2. we express an emotion like anger to exhibit our internal immaturity

Are you harnessing the mental emotions constructively or destructively? Do you think there is a scope for improvement? FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)
