Nonpareil Design

(1 minute Read)

I will share an interesting snippet about our body design which may give you goosebumps. There are 2 parts (Nails and Hairs) of the integumentary system which do not have nerve endings. This unique design feature ensures that there is no sensation of pain when we get our hair cut or bite our nails.

If it were not for this amazing design, then anesthetic would have to be administered every time we visit a hair salon or watch a nail biting finish in a soccer game.

This blog serves as a relevant point to ponder for the Gyaan Nugget # 54 given in Chapter 3, which describes the wonderful powers expressing within us. Hope you will reflect on these design aspects without biting your nails!

If a 5G smartphone design can command great praise from us, how much respect should a human body design deserve? FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)

The Complementary Pair

(1 minute Read)

I am sure you would be recollecting all the wonderful moments in 2021 which made you a better person. A new year is about to begin. The January month of a new year is a key period to sustain the changes made with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Signing off this year with a point to ponder about the Leadership yarns – Chapter 1 (Gyaan Nugget # 2).

Character is like the foundation which is invisible to the world. It denotes who we are and what we do when nobody is watching.

Competence is the building which is built upon the foundation. It refers to what we have and what we do when everybody is watching.

Review your experiences in 2021 where you felt that Character and Competence complemented each other. As they say in cricket, take a fresh stance and resume your magnificent innings in 2022. Happy New Year to you and your families. FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)

Epitome of Patience & Sportsmanship

(1 minute Read)

If one wants to assimilate the vital attributes required for simple living, we can always look up to special people in our respective families. My paternal uncle sportingly accepted the numerous constraints, which he faced from an young age.

I was ruminating about Gyaan Nugget # 69 when two of his most brilliant qualities as a Table Tennis player flashed instantly. I can never forget his college championship final match in Dharwad, South India decades ago, which he won. His abundant patience in slowly wearing down his aggressive opponent was a treat to watch. The icing on the cake was his sportsmanship while he acknowledged his opponent’s winning points at some tense moments in the match. He displayed these qualities irrespective of the type of match or sport. The ultimate beauty was that he applied the same qualities with aplomb in his personal and professional lives.

Whenever and Wherever I need to derive inspiration, I recollect those precious memories which I had with my uncle and feel energized. FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)

An Ace Lesson from Tennis

(1 minute Read)

Watching sports on TV has become captivating with the advent of data analytics. The game of Tennis hinges on a few crucial data points. A match can be won by a player either by hitting winners or with the unforced errors of the opponent. When the number of winners is greater than the number of unforced errors, the player wins. A simple equation for winning or losing in this racquet sport.

Drawing a parallel to our lives, we need not get bogged down by the number of unforced errors which we commit. The key to progress is by hitting more winners by positively using our skills and talents. We have so much to learn each day by benchmarking with experts from diverse domains.

Strike a balance between the time invested for honing our winning skills and for analyzing our unforced errors. Ponder over this point to reflect on Gyaan Nugget # 47. FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)

Essence Extraction from Friday Gyaan

(2 minute Read)

It is so heartening to listen to the interesting approaches adopted by readers to extract essences from the rich Gyaan Nuggets. Last week, I got a mail from a modern IT engineer in his early twenties, who respects traditional values. He shared his experience of reflecting upon 2 Gyaan Nuggets (# 25 and # 35) deeply, when he got stuck in his Chennai house with no power inside and incessant rains outside. He has written to me that by dwelling upon these 2 nuggets, he was able to relate to his current situation easily. As a result, he was able to re-assess his response and relate to them in a meaningful manner.

The FRIDAY GYAAN book can be used for essence extraction at 3 levels:

Level 1 – If you want to KNOW certain worldly principles and related analogies, one can complete reading the book in days.

Level 2- If a reader wants to dig deeper and get into a REFLECTIVE mode, then it can be completed in months.

Level 3- If you desire to change the way you think, then start ASSIMILATING the essences into your daily habits. This can be done when you use it as a hand book for years.

This book is taking its rightful position as a personality game changer in the readers’ lives. FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)
