An Intelligent Definition

Life is a unique project doling out thrills and spills in each phase. The project phases are generously sprinkled with lot of uncertainties. There is a vicious spiral which needs to be aware of at every stage of our lives. The four stages of that spiral are:

Stage 1: Helplessness

Stage 2: Anger

Stage 3: Frustration

Stage 4: Depression

Each stage progressively leads to the next one, if left unchecked. The best time to act proactively is at the first stage of helplessness. We need not have to respond to situations, all alone. Swami Dayananda, a brilliant Guru taught the ancient Indian scriptural teachings to thousands of Sishyas with a bespoke study curriculum. He famously quoted Intelligence as ”Seeking help when you need it.”

Prioritization is the key

US open tennis tournament which is being held during August/ September 2021 assumes special significance. The tournament might act as a tie breaker, since Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are tied currently with 20 grand slam titles apiece. It will be exciting to see who will get to the coveted mark of 21 titles in Flushing Meadows.

I enjoyed the live telecast of the Wimbledon matches this year, spending almost 2 hours every day. After Wimbledon, I find it difficult to get those 2 hours. The most intriguing part was how I managed to get those 2 hours during the 2 weeks of the tournament.

When we prioritize any activity in advance, time is available to us magically. This is the most important tool for Quality and Productivity improvements. This tool is explained in Gyaan Nugget # 81 given in Chapter 5. (FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)

Staring at 3 pertinent questions

I have written about the Modern pyramid which indicates the progression from data towards wisdom in 4 levels. We seem to be comfortable in gathering content from today’s sophisticated social media. The amount of data, information and knowledge which occupy our mental and intellectual spaces are increasing exponentially. It is better to revisit the famous adage: ‘the more the merrier’ and check its validity.

At this juncture, let us honestly answer 3 pertinent questions:

  1. Am I collecting the data, information and knowledge which are aligned to my goals? – DIRECTION

2. Am I spending quality time to process the inputs into wisdom? – TIME

3. Do I have to declutter my mental and intellectual spaces for efficient processing? – SPACE

Remembering Talakaveri

(2 min Read)

River and sacredness are synonyms since every river in this beautiful planet sustains billions of living beings. Kaveri is one such river in South India. The source of this river is called Talakaveri, which is located in Kodagu district of Karnataka in South India. It is located 48 kilometers from Madikeri, an amazing hill station, where one can taste the sweetness of air.

At Talakaveri, small drops bubbling from inside the Mother Earth signifies the birth of this great river. The flowing pure river expresses itself and gives life unconditionally for the next 805 kilometers. If I wish to interact with a world having good vibes always, the source has to be within myself. If I want the world to be loving and compassionate towards me, then those 2 emotions should start bubbling from my innermost chamber of my heart like the source in Talakaveri.

If you get a chance to visit the source of a river, please do not miss it. The message of this blog is linked to Gyaan Nugget # 107 given in Chapter 6. (FRIDAY GYAAN is available in Amazon in both ebook and paperback versions – Visit Website http://www.authorshankar.com)

Spark Blog for Inspiration

(2 min Read)

I had discussions with a close friend of mine who has started to use FRIDAY GYAAN as a handbook to derive weekly inspirations from the Gyaan Nuggets. I admire his approach wherein he has started relating his experiences deeply with 3 Gyaan Nuggets every month. He has outlined an approach wherein he plans to cover the entire book within the next 3 years. He has started to maintain his additional list of points to ponder. Glad that my dream of adding values to my readers is taking shape firmly.

As I completed my talk with him, I remembered the role of a spark plug in an internal combustion engine of a vehicle. The massive power potential in the fuel-air mixture is ignited by a little spark, which is provided at the right time by the spark plug. The sparking action is enabled thousands of times every minute by the spark plug.

There is no dearth of experience and knowledge for each one of us. We need that timely spark of inspiration to tap the wealth within. I wish these blogs act as a Spark blog for Inspiration.
